From 25 September till 27 September, 2013, at 3 p.m., educational film demonstrations “The Bread Guillotine” had been held at Memory Hall of National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine”. The set consisted of three films: “Tsar Holod (The Great Famine)”, “The Great Turning Point” and “The Numb Chime”.
The action started with viewing of museum exhibition and lighting candles in Memory Hall in commemoration of famine victims. The visitors listened to the lecture about tragic events of the beginning of the 20th century and about “The Bread Guillotine” – a film by Igor Kobryn, a well-known director and Honored Art Worker of Ukraine.
On September 11, 2013, National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine”, supported by the Ukrainian Congress in Latvia, presented a document exhibition “The Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine – Genocide against the Ukrainian People” at Museum of the Occupation of Latvia 1941–1990 in Riga.
This exhibition throws light upon historical truth about the crimes of Bolshevik totalitarian regime on the territory of Ukraine, rethinks the past tragedies, and immortalizes innocently killed people.
On September 11, 2013, the National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine” and the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia 1941–1990 signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the purpose of elucidation of the soviet totalitarian regime crimes, discovering historical truth, and commemorating victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine and political repressions in Latvia.
he day before, the Memorandum was signed by Victor Didenko, CEO of the National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine” in Kyiv and by Gundega Michele, head of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia 1941–1990 in Riga. The sides interchanged their texts of the Memorandum on the presentation of exhibition “The Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine – Genocide against the Ukrainian People”.
At 2 p.m. on August 21, 2013, the presentation of documents and periodicals exhibition “The Holodomor Genocide: The Road to Truth” was held at Memory Hall of National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine”.
The ceremony was visited by witnesses and explorers of the Holodomor, members of archival and scientific institutions, and students.
All the materials were exposed on information posters, display stands, and in the film “Unknown Famine”.
On July 3, 2013, the National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine” celebrated its 4th anniversary. The event was visited by Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2007-2010 I. V. Vasiunyk; members of the Parliament of Ukraine H. M. Herman and Y. M. Syrotiuk; Canadian, German, and Latvian ambassadors; board of governors of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Property under the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine; board of governors of Ukrainian National Memory Institute; headship of the Association of Holodomor Researchers in Ukraine; delegates from charity foundations and Ukrainian museums; social activists.
On June 17, 2013 the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander
Lukashenko visited the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of
Famines’ Victims in Ukraine” during his duty call to Ukraine.
On June 14, 2013 the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović
visited the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’
Victims in Ukraine” during his duty call to Ukraine.
Honorable guest put a symbolic composition of flowers and wheat spikes to the sculpture “Sad Memory of Childhood” and bowed his head in a moment of silence.
On June 9, 2013 Kateryna Mykhaylivna Yushchenko, the current and
second wife of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko visited the
National museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in
Ukraine”.
On May 18, 2013, in a response letter to MP Yuriy Syrotiuk, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov informed about the events that are going to be held by central and local executive authorities on the Holodomor Memorial Day on the occasion of 80th anniversary of 1932-1933 Holodomor.
In February 2013, testimonies of Ukrainians, who survived terrible years of the Holodomor were recorded in Australia. Their memories are impossible to forget, no matter how many years will pass or how far away from home will they find their destinies.
Courtesy of Dr. Alla Boiko, professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the records were conveyed to the fund of the National Museum “Memorial in Commemoration of Famine`s Victims in Ukraine”.
On May 18, 2013, cultural and educational event “Bread Making” took
place at the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’
Victims in Ukraine”. It was opened under the slogan “Museums (memory and
creativity make social changes)” and was dedicated to the International
Museum Day.
On the 16th of May, 2013 an auditorium took place in the Memory Hall of the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine”. Its main idea was to add new information to the data already available from the exhibition “Repressions in the Time of Famine” and to enable guests to experience those times.
On May 15, 2013, presentation of documentary and art exhibition “Repressions in the Time of Famine” took place in the Memory Hall of the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine”. It was dedicated to the Political Repression Victims Day.
On April 22, 2013 Mr. Lloyd Axworthy, Canadian politician and President of the University of Winnipeg, Mr. Terry Duguid, Canadian politician, Mr. Vasyl Balan, assistant principal of the University of Winnipeg and Mrs. Iryna Balan, vice-president of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress visited the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine”.
On April 18, 2013, an auditorium took place at the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine”. It complemented with archival chronicle the exhibition “Famine of 1946-1947: Documents and Facts”.
On April 17, 2013 presentation of the exhibition “Famine of
1946-1947: Documents and Facts” took place in the Memory Hall of the
National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in
Ukraine”.
On April 12, 2013 Prime Minister of Estonia Andrus Ansip attended the
National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in
Ukraine” during his official visit to this country.

head in a moment of silence to honor the people who were starved to
death in the famines’ years.
On April 5, 2013 Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Serik Nığmetulı
Akhmetov visited the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of
Famines’ Victims in Ukraine” as a part of his duty call to Ukraine.
Honorable

famines in Ukraine.
On the 14th of March 2013 the President of Latvia Mr Andris Berzins
visited the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’
Victims in Ukraine” during the official visit to Ukraine.
On the 3rd of March Hon. Jason T. Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism visited the National Museum "The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines' Victims in Ukraine".
The honorable guest paid tribute to the people who died in the years of famines putting a bouquet of May roses and wheat ears to the sculpture "Sad Memory of Childhood".
On the 21 of February an auditorium “Tsar Holod – Famine of 1921-1922” took place in the Memory Hall of the National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine”. During the event the students of the Journalism Institute of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv who were present at the event, listened to the lecture about famine 1921-1922 and watched two films “Tsar Holod: Famine of 1921-1922” and “Famine and Fighting Against it”.
