“The Silent Truth of History”
National Museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine” introduces project "The Silent Truth of History". It was made upon the execution of Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (dated 25.02.2009 №209-d) “On the approval of access to information of persons with hearing disabilities through sign language translation and subtitling”. This project includes demonstrations of movies on the famine’s topics with translation into sign language and later subtitles for hearing impaired people in the Museum’s Memory Hall.
According to various sources there are 50 to 150 thousand people having different hearing problems in Ukraine. Nowadays the problem of finding the best way out for quality access and gaining knowledge of people with hearing disabilities becomes extremely acute. One of the methods of solving the problem will be making movies with verbal explanation.
The project is aimed to active involvement of children, pupils and students with hearing impairments to explore the history of Ukraine. Promotion of the improvement of the educational process of young people with hearing impairments through the use of various forms and methods, including fabrication and demonstration films with sign language, is a part of social aid to the deaf-mute.
Teaching people with hearing impairment by reviewing videos with a signed translation and subtitles will improve their general educational level and further democratization of Ukrainian education system. Films will promote the correct outlook and civil positions of youth.
Ways and means of realization the project:
